My hips hurt too much to run.  I still doing treadmill walking w/ intense treadmill workouts, plus abs &amp;amp; &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"&gt;blowflex&lt;/span&gt;...but until I get back into a regular running routine...I'll be silent.  I'm I too old to run?  Is it my &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;Vit&lt;/span&gt;- D levels??  Walking is much better, less pain - usually not much.  I did just order some Vegan Joint &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"&gt;Glucosamine&lt;/span&gt;...so we will see. 2.7 mile run (rhj hurts)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;6/4 (Thu) - Abs 1,2,3,4 ; day of rest for sore hip&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;6/5 (Fri) - 3 mile run - OUCH&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;6/6 (Sat) - Blowflex&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;6/7 (Sun)- Abs 1,4&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;Total miles for the week:  11.4 run / 3 mile walk&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;6/1- after all the running last week and yardwork, my RHJ is quite tender- I think the walk help stretch it out.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;6/2 - had shin splints from walking yesterday- normal for me. Actually had an &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7"&gt;appt&lt;/span&gt;. w/ my Doctor Friday just to go over &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8"&gt;bloodwork&lt;/span&gt; and I asked him it my joint is &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9"&gt;permanently&lt;/span&gt; damaged from my &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10"&gt;Vitamin&lt;/span&gt; D deficiency.  He assured me that it will get completely better, it just takes time and I have to to RESPECT MY HIP.  I need to avoid things that will aggrevate it - like, I found, jumping jacks. I did stop the DVD when they were on the last cardio segment so I could do my run. I already see an improvement in my pushups- I can almost do a 1/2 of sissy one. I thought I would incorporate this into my workouts....running isn't always best for the bod.  Note to self, don't try and do SHRED after you just ran 4 miles. So I popped some Aleve and rested on Monday. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;3 /23 (Mon) - REST - much needed too &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;3/24 (Tues) - 2.5 miles run outside - Abs 1 - (still pain in joint..but runnable)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;3/25 (Wed) - Abs 2 &amp;amp; 3 - Blowflex&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;3/26 (Thu) - 3.5 miles outside (at first a lot of RHJ pain, but after 2 miles better)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;3/27 (Fri) - 2.5+ miles outside (RHJ made my knee hurt-better after a while)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;3/28 (Sat) - 4.5 miles outside (dito from above)&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;+ yardwork!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;3/29 (Sun) -&lt;/span&gt; Abs 1,2,3 - Blowflex&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Total 13 miles&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;...but I guess more importantly that Sunday, after the 4.5 miles the day before, I felt great. I had to take a break since October '08 because of a&lt;/span&gt; &lt;a href="http://good-dees.blogspot.com/2009/03/where-has-d-been.html"&gt;hip/joint issue&lt;/a&gt; &lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;(read about it there). For the past month I've been incorporating more running into my workouts....but just last week I've started to run outside, instead inside on the treadmill. I still have pain in my hips at times, but nothing I can't work through or that rest doesn't help. So I'm back, hoping this log will allow me to exceed my running goals. Since I've been not running, I've incorporated&lt;/span&gt; &lt;a href="http://www.bowflexhomegyms.com/global/content_basic.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302039199&amp;amp;bmUID=1237296431865&amp;amp;adID=DEGG1SITEG&amp;amp;lid=feature_bhg"&gt;BLOWFLEX &lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;(which is really bowflex) &amp;amp; some free weights, and a&lt;/span&gt; &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/Tom-Hollands-Total-Ab-Workout/dp/B000C3L29I/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;s=dvd&amp;amp;qid=1237296558&amp;amp;sr=8-1"&gt;DVD workout for the abs&lt;/a&gt;. &lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;I hate Blowflex, but I like the results. I love the ab workout...even though the music sounds like porn music (well....so I've been told). That means things like no eggs, cheese, honey, milk, or gelatin. I do not use sugar that processed by using bone char. I do not use items that are tested on animals or have animal "parts" in them. No leather, fur, wool or silk. I make it a practice not to kill bugs (I make an exception for flies or mosquitoes that land on me). One day of my training I had to run 10 or 11 miles.  After my run, probably during it, I wondered WHY anyone wanted to run that far???  I ended up with an injury that day that prevented me from running the '&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;thon&lt;/span&gt;....but I do have a nice $50 t-shirt from signing up!&lt;br /&gt;I set no goal like that again.
